Ciencia En Tu Idioma [Science in Your Language]

By Marcela Quintanilla-Dieck | Communicating Science, Contenido en español, Imaging & Radiology | 0 comment | 10 February, 2023 | 0

English Version
‘’Ciencia en tu idioma’’ is a new podcast created by the Mass General Research Institute for important conversations about science and medicine in Spanish!

In the first episode, we chat with Efren Flores, MD, a physician-scientist in the Department of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, about the importance of having research information available in different languages to increase access to scientific information and reduce barriers.

Our why

This podcast was created with the idea that access to scientific information should not be limited by language.

Our team sought to find a creative way to bring people closer to science by creating a space where experts talk with us in Spanish about the importance of research and why it is crucial to include diverse patient populations in their work.

The podcast embodies our idea of bringing people closer to science by having meaningful conversations with relatable experts.

We have a long way to go, and in an ideal world, we would have this podcast in many different languages. But this is just the beginning of a long road toward reducing the gap in scientific knowledge.

By starting this podcast, we encourage research and healthcare organizations to think about how they could create more inclusive messaging –– how can we work to truly connect to populations that have traditionally been excluded from scientific research due to language or cultural barriers?

Together, we can reach the summit of the mountain sooner.
